Mix and Match Blogging Tips
What Do You Want to Say
After securing yourself a blogging platform, figure out what it is that makes your voice unique. What do you want to say to people? Do you want to keep people motivated by updated them on your physical transformation? Maybe you wish to inform people about the rigors of your everyday life. Or, perhaps, you want to write quick and funny pieces to keep people entertained daily. No matter what you want to write about, there’s an audience for it. **NOTE: For business owners, this blog should revolve around your business.
Create a Schedule
One of the worst things about beginning a blog is that you have to be consistent to keep your audience interested. So sit down at the beginning of each month and decide how often you’re going to blog. Then comes the hard part; you have to stick with it. Don’t worry, though, writing it down makes you a little more indebted to your blog. An excellent way to start is to jot down the topic, the date, and any small notes for the content that you may already have fleshed out.
Devote the Time
Carve out a chunk of your week to type out a blog. Then, come back to it and see if there is anything you may want to change or adjust the voice. Maybe you sat down to write something funny, and you were feeling angry. It will show in your blog, believe it or not. So come back to it once or twice and make sure it is in line with your traditional tone.
Keywords
If you’re blogging for a business, make sure your keywords are similar to what people would search to have your business come up. Let’s say its a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning company, one of your keywords could be HVAC (and the area you’re in). If it’s a personal blog, use the keywords that pertain to the subject matter of the blog. For example, if you’re writing about your journey through your divorce. Your keywords should be divorce, separation, single mom, etc. Get it?
Posting
When your blog is ready, then you’re ready to post. I recommend posting your blog the same day of each week, as people will start coming back to look for it. Once the blog is live, share it with all of your social sites and some other places, such as message boards or online forums. Ask your friends to share as well. Blogging can be incredibly rewarding if you do it properly.
The rules are the same as anything else; however, don’t start it unless you intend to finish it!
