As part of Kia’s plan to create as many as 11 new electric vehicles by 2026, we’re seeing new, innovative models in concept and production. One such concept is the Kia EV9, which was revealed at the 2021 Log Angeles Auto Show. What do we know about the Kia EV9, and when should we expect to see it for sale at Kia dealers? After a year, we’re finally learning more about this stunning new Kia model.
What is the Kia EV9?
The Kia EV9 is an electric SUV that’s supposed to “reimagine what an all-electric vehicle can be,” according to Kia’s website. It’s meant to be the next step in combining the classic power of an SUV with the sleek design and eco-friendly nature of electric vehicles of the past.
But how do we know the Kia EV9 will be the hottest new vehicle to hit Kia dealers? The design and features, of course!
Exterior and Interior Style
Because this is an electric SUV, some of the classic external designs of gasoline cars are missing -a prominent grille, bulky hood, and more are removed. Instead, the EV9 is sleek, seamless, and boxy. It looks like a car of the future from your wildest dreams, and the inside is similarly interesting.
The interior of this concept vehicle makes ample use of space with a 27-inch display, pop-up steering wheel, and three rows of seating while still feeling open and spacious when you sit inside.
Features and Tech
The star of the EV9’s features is the 27-inch display. It has everything you could want in infotainment with a high-tech feel but a simple user interface. Like most modern systems, it will come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, and all the bells and whistles.
Other features include a pop-up steering pad, a sunroof spanning the entire vehicle, and essential safety features like wing cameras, self-parking functions, pedestrian detection, and more that comes with Kia’s Drive Wise package.
Pricing
Another aspect of the EV9 to consider is the price. When comparing the potential cost of the Kia EV9 to other similar EVs, it could cost between $40,000 and $50,000 once it reaches you at a Kia dealer in your area.
This figure comes from considering the cost of the EV6 ($41,000) and the similarly-sized Telluride ($34,000). As a premium SUV with a unique power source and ability, it could cost more than other EVs sold by Kia currently.
When to Expect the Kia EV9
Now that you know everything there is to know about the Kia EV9, there’s only one last question: where can you get it?
Based on automaking trends, this SUV will likely be produced in the United States to reduce production costs. It’s expected to begin manufacturing later in 2022 or the beginning of 2023 and will start being sold by Kia dealers in 2024.
Because this information hasn’t been officially confirmed by Kia, there’s still time for the production of the EV9 to be pushed out further. So keep your ears open for more information in the next few months about the Kia EV9!
