The 2018 Kia Soul is on Both Sides of the Fence

As a fun and funky car that’s advertised by dancing hamsters, the Kia Soul is likely a car that wasn’t expected to be as successful as it is.

This car is one that continues to bring us the shape and size we want along with an affordable price and an efficient trim for the drive. This little car is powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 201 horsepower and 195 lb.-ft. of torque while being attached to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission for the drive.

Check Out a few of the Pros and Cons of the Kia Soul

Pros

Turbocharged Engine

Because the turbocharged engine is offered to give you a smidge over 200 horsepower you’re going to have a zippy ride in this active and lightweight car. The benefits of this engine are an increased level of fuel mileage and the comfortable ride you want to enjoy. Take a test drive and feel the peppiness of the Kia Soul today.

Space and Cargo

With this small and active size, the Kia Soul gives you 23.6 cubic feet of storage space behind the rear seats. When these seats are folded down, this space is expanded to 61.3 cubic feet to make sure you can bring larger items home. This big an expandable area means this car can be the perfect choice when you need to carry passengers or cargo with you.

Light Up Speakers

The interior of the Kia Soul is fun and funky for you on the road and they bring you some items that you’ll love to show off. The speakers have a ring that lights up and is fun to see in the cabin. There are several different colors these speakers can cycle through or pulse with the beat. This is a lot of fun to see and certainly something you’re going to want to show off.

Starting Price

The Kia Soul offers you a range of prices that simply make it possible for you to fit it into your budget with ease. At the highest trim level, you’re going to pay a little more than $24,000 while the base version of this car shows up at just a hair over $17,000 for the drive you want to enjoy. There’s also a middle model that squeezes in between these two.

Hamsters

The marketing of the dancing hamsters that have been part of the Kia Soul for the past ten years has helped this model sell over one million models in the US. These cute characters are going to continue to be used to help us admire the car and decide whether or not we want to make this the car that we’re going to enjoy driving.

Cons

Transmission

While the powertrain is efficient, you’re going to notice that you have a bit of a rough ride in the model that has the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission as the one used. This may become something you get used to, but it should be and Kia has better choices to give you a smoother ride in other models, they just need to make it to the Kia Soul.

Interior

The interior isn’t bad, but it certainly could be better and with other examples of excellent interior spaces found in the Kia lineup, you can see exactly how. The Soul does have personality, but that’s something that we might give up in order to have an interior that looks great and offers us the comfort and technology we want to enjoy when it’s time to get out on the road.

Driver Assistance Features

Even at the top trim levels, you’re going to be limited in the safety features you can choose. This model brings you blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, and smart cruise control for the drive, but that’s about all you’re going to see for the package. This is a car that shows up as a Top Safety Pick rating from the IIHS in order to give you the ability to stay safe during the ride.

AWD

If you look at the Kia Soul as a small and active SUV you expect to find AWD on the menu, but this is a car that doesn’t bring that to the market. The addition of AWD to the Soul could offer you a slew of different troubles for the drive, which might be why it hasn’t been added.
