Power Your Home With a Ford Lightning Pickup Truck?

Power Your Home With a Ford Lightning Pickup Truck

The new Ford Lightning is one of the most exciting things to come to every Ford dealer across the country. Even though this fresh fully-electric pickup truck isn’t on the road in full force just yet, it has Ford enthusiasts deep in conversation across the country.

Your local Ford dealer used to only brag about how this EV could get up to 300 miles of driving range on a single charge, along with its ability to produce up to 563 horsepower and 775 lb-ft of torque. The zero to 60 mph time of around four seconds was also a big talking point. Now that winter is upon us, and the snow seems to just keep coming down, the team at your local Ford dealer has something else about which to boast: Ford’s Pro Power Onboard Generator.

Say Hello To an Onboard Generator

One of the perks of having a powerful electric batter as part of your pickup truck is that the power in the batter is available for more than just driving. Thanks to the Pro Power Onboard Generator, your Ford Lightning can charge other electric vehicles or can even power an entire house.

When winter storms cause trouble, the Ford Lightning is there to save the day.

How Does It Work?

Ford’s Intelligent Backup Power works with a Home Integration system to provide power on the spot if there is some kind of problem with the grid. When power is restored to your house, these systems step back and let the grid do its job.

When the Lightning is equipped with the extended range battery pack, it can provide power to an average home for about three days (at 30 kWh per day). This could be the difference between a horrible couple of snow days or living in comfort.

To be able to keep the lights and heat on in your home with the F-150 Lightning, you must have the Ford Charging Station Pro. Luckily, this charging station comes with an extended battery pack. It’s also optional with the standard battery pack.

Ford even has plans to improve this technology. There may be a day when your home is powered off of your F-150 when electricity rates are high. Then, during non-peak hours, the Lightning can recharge its batteries to be ready for the next day.

Reserve Your Ford Lightning Today

If you need any more reasons to love the innovative Ford Lightning, its ability to charge your home or other electric vehicles should help. There has never been an electric car, SUV, or truck that offered this much capability.

Stop by your local Ford dealer to learn how to reserve one of these amazing trucks today.
