Hyundai, the up-and-coming Korean automaker, has officially surpassed the EV giant Tesla in making the world’s premier electric vehicle. Does Hyundai have what it takes to outshine Tesla in the coming years?
It’s official, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 is better than the Tesla Model 3. While Tesla has been around for a bit longer and definitely has a better reputation in the EV realm, it’s hard to argue that Tesla is still the most excellent manufacturer of electric vehicles. As of 2023, the Hyundai’s Ioniq 6 will have more range and better pricing than the Tesla Model 3. While luxury and safety features vary for either vehicle, the most important aspect of an EV’s capabilities is performance. And right now, the Ioniq 6 has one hand on the trophy. With more range and better cost, Tesla is sure to lose some stake as being the world’s best electric vehicle manufacturer.
Elon Musk might want to spend a little less time on Twitter and more time making sure Tesla isn’t passed up by Hyundai this year.
What Is the Ioniq
The Hyundai Ioniq has come a long way in a short time. The Ioniq is a fully-electric compact SUV that continues to impress with each iteration. The Ioniq has only been out since 2017 and, since then, has gained massive popularity, and seems to have untapped potential in the EV automotive market.
The first Tesla to become available to the public was in 2008 and, as we all know, has been popular ever since, but Tesla hasn’t had much competition, or at least someone to call a rival. That ends now. The Ioniq 6 is better than the Tesla, and here is why.
Range and Price
When it comes to buying or owning an electric vehicle, range is the most important thing. What is range? Simply put, range is an EV’s ability or rather capacity in how many miles it can drive at once. Historically, Tesla vehicles have always had impeccable range, whereas cars like the Mazda MX-30 EV only get a dismal 100 miles of range on a full charge (No hate to Mazda).
There is a lot of competition between Hyundai and Tesla right now. The standard Hyundai Ioniq 6, which you will be able to find at any Hyundai dealership very soon, gets 240 miles of range, compared to the standard Model 3, which gets 272 miles of range. Things heat up when you consider the performance models of these two cars.
Tesla’s Model 3 Long Range version will achieve 358 miles on a single charge, while the Hyundai Ioniq 6 Long Range trim gets an impressive 361 miles. It’s not much, but a little goes a long way in this battle between the EVs.
In terms of price, the Hyundai Ioniq is better in every aspect. The standard version is cheaper by a little bit, and the Long Range trim is cheaper too. Not only does Hyundai edge out Tesla in terms of miles, but cost as well.
